My site has been updated to reflect my Sping 2008 classes, schedule, and tentative office hours.

Note that you will not have access to the course materials until the start of Spring Quarter on Monday April 7, 2008.

Students officially registered in my on-line classes will be sent an email on Sunday April 6 with passwords for accessing materials.

Note the syllabus for each course has been updated and is now available.

I’ve had a number of students ask how they can add an on-line class now that the quarter is under way… here is the procedure:

Late adds do not start until Monday April 7, 2008. You will have to wait until the 7th as this is an automated procedure and I do not personally have the add codes you need.

1. On/after Monday the April 7, go to the following url:

http://www.foothillglobalaccess.org/cgi/register/register.cgi

2. In the list find the class you are interested in and click on the
“Request to Add” button.

Your request will then be waiting for me to approve it. Once I log-in and approve your request you will be e-mailed the information you need to enroll in the class.

Once you’ve officially added the class, then my on-line class shows you as ready.

I will then send you a welcome message outlining the first day/week procedures and how to get started and enter the on-line classroom.

Bear in mind that this entire process can take up to a day to get you to the point where you can log-in to the classroom. The sooner you actually follow the registration instructions, the sooner you will be able to enter the on-line classroom and get started.

Update 4/7/08 - I’ve disabled the link to the Winter projects page because most of those links are to our CTIS server. As of Monday April 7, those accounts will be deleted so that staff can create new accounts for the Spring Quarter.

I’ve made a page with links to the final projects for all of my Flash classes.

Note that this is a VERY temporary page. The CTIS staff will delete all files and accounts on our web systems prior to April 7, 2008 to prepare accounts for the Spring Quarter.

The due date for each of my classes is a different date. So during Wednesday through Friday, when students have submitted their projects and links, I will update this page once I know what your url’s are.

I just got the following email about a change in ETUDES from a non-secure environment to become a secure web server. So the change will affect us all, but not too much really.

And it is happening in just hours, so I am sure it will be a surprise for on-line users.

We’re implementing Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) for ETUDES-NG on Wednesday, November 21, at 4:00-4:30AM. We do not expect this to take more time than our routine server 15 minutes maintenance window. An SSL Certificate enables encryption of sensitive information during online transactions.

Once this is in place, our address will start with https:// instead of http://. The old address to our Gateway will continue to work. It will redirect users. The first time you reach ETUDES-NG after SSL is enabled, you will be prompted to accept a secure certificate from ETUDES-NG. Select "Accept this certificate permanently" and click on OK, if you don’t want to have to do this every time you log into your sites.

Register Early! Managers cancel classes with early low enrollment numbers. Registering early helps ensure that the class(es) you are interested will in fact be offered! If you wait, then it is likely/possible that the class you want may not go… argh!
